James Bond Actor Daniel Craig Was Almost A Part of Doctor Strange 2

The long-awaited sequel to Doctor Strange delivered massively in terms of the scope, especially when it came to the cameos with the Illuminati.

Set in Earth-838, the Illuminati featured characters like Black Bolt and Captain Carter, who were banded together to prevent any kinds of threats. While the team included some big names from the world of comic books, none was bigger than Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, who was played by John Krasinski.

Ever since the Fantastic Four movie was announced at SDCC 2019, The Quiet Place star has been the biggest fan casting for Reed Richards, with his wife Emily Blunt preferred as Sue Storm. Fans were quite thrilled to see a major fan casting come to life in the Doctor Strange sequel. However, according to Senior Deadline Reporter Justin Kroll, the movie could have seen a different Mister Fantastic with British actor, Daniel Craig.

According to Kroll, the James Bond actor was the first choice for Marvel Studios to play Richards instead of Krasinski. However, at the time, Craig refused to risk himself getting COVID-19 for a day’s worth of shoot and return to his home in London and endanger his family, which included a 2-year-old daughter as well.

The British star would have easily fit the memo of playing an old and grizzled version of Reed Richards, who also has a wife and kids in Earth-838. However, we instead got Krasinski, who played the same character quite well.
