You probably don’t recognize the name Bonnie Jean Wilbur, but she holds a very important place in Nintendo history. She was the very first actress to voice Zelda in a Legend of Zelda game. Bonnie provided the voice for Zelda in both Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, two Legend of Zelda games developed for the Philips CD-i.
In an interview with GamesReviews, we get to hear a bit more from Bonnie Jean Wilbur on a number of topics. Surprisingly, she’s not really a gamer and has never even seen either Zelda CD-i games in their finished state. That said, Zelda: Breath of the Wild did make it into her orbit, and she was quite impressed.
I’m not a gamer, and I never owned a Nintendo console. I occasionally get mail requesting autographs, which kind of gives me an idea of whether people like the video games. I never followed the franchise, but my niece does. She has a Nintendo Switch actually. I watched her play a recent Zelda game, and it was just beautiful. The advancements in technology are just amazing. I was impressed with the detail and colors of the graphics, and it peaked my interest.
