More Dragon Age News Is Coming at This Year’s Game Awards

The year’s almost out, but BioWare isn’t quite done announcing news just yet. Following the surprising departure of two of BioWare’s leadership yesterday, the studio has said there will be more news about the upcoming Dragon Age project at this year’s Game Awards on Dec. 10.

Today is the unofficial-official “Dragon Age Day”—Dec. 4 or “D4,” which looks like DA for Dragon Age. BioWare released four new short stories today from the studio’s writers about goings-on in the Dragon Age universe, from magister intrigue to stories of the Grey Wardens. In a press release about them, a spokesperson for BioWare says the stories help “paint the picture for the future of Dragon Age,” including providing some insight into the next reveal at The Game Awards.

The Game Awards, hosted and produced by longtime showrunner Geoff Keighley, are set to air on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. PT on various streaming channels, including Twitch. It’s an event that’s usually full of premieres, including a trailer tease for the fourth Dragon Age at the 2018 Game Awards.

Some good news from BioWare is likely welcome for its fans, as yesterday publisher Electronic Arts and BioWare announced the departure of two higher-ups at the studio. General manager Casey Hudson and Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah are both leaving the company, with Christian Dailey stepping in to helm development on the new Dragon Age moving forward.

We did finally get a better look at what BioWare is planning for the next Dragon Age earlier this year, during GamesCom Opening Night Live. There are clearly plans for Solas, the companion-turned-antagonist, to play a major role in the coming events, and the recent 25th anniversary novelization of BioWare’s history thus far has confirmed the next Dragon Age will be headed to Tevinter.

All that said, a confident showing will be big in easing the worry some might be feeling after yesterday’s news. We’ll see what the studio has in store on Dec. 10 during The Game Awards 2020.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
